Welcome to my website where I would like to introduce my English-Czech and Czech-English translation services. I approach translating not only as my job, but also as a fulfilling acitivity that I am devoted to.
I have been translating since 2005. During that time I have gained quite a lot of experience and references, so you can rely on quality of my work. I observe correct technical terminology and, to make the translation sound natural for its recipients, I use suitable collocations. You can read more about how I translate in another article on this website.
What can I do the best
I would be pleased to work on your texts about tourism, economics, marketing, information technologies as well as technical manuals or legal contracts. You can also entrust me with translations of your university theses, personal or business correspondence, company websites or, for example, video subtitles.
I observe correct technical terminology
As regards to technical translations, it is vital to maintain the correct technical terminology. As a graduate of the humanities, I cannot claim to be an expert in terminologies of all the disciplines; however, I have quality translator's dictionaries at my disposal from the fields of technology, law, economics and medicine, in which I am able to look up the correct terms.
If you are interested in translations of legal contracts or technical manuals for ordinary users, you need not worry to entrust me with the job. Your English-Czech as well as Czech-English translations will be in good hands with me. I will always provide you with a brief glossary of the terminology used and, in case of any doubt, I will try to consult the terms with you.
However, it can make a difference if you demand a translation of a highly professional text that requires deeper insight in the respective field – in such a case you should better assign the translation to someone with an expert knowledge.
I'm not an agency...
Unlike with anonymous translation agencies, you can rest assured as to who will be working on your Czech translations. I hold a trade licence for translations and issue invoices. As a direct provider of translations, I can offer much better rates than agencies. If your translation is intended for private purposes, its price won't be increased by 21% value-added tax. However, I am a VAT-identified person within the EU, which means that I can provide services also for your businnes – in such a case you are obliged to declare and pay the VAT in your own country.
How to contact me
If you are interested in a free quotation for your translation, feel free to send me the text by e-mail. In most cases, I will be able to respond within a few dozens of minutes. I will also state a deadline by which I will be able to finish your translation. Like all translators, I am happy if I can arrange my work in a long term ahead; however, I can find time for your express translations too. I do not charge extra fees for working on weekends and holidays.
Which text formats can I deal with
Another important part of translation process is to keep the default text formatting and uniform terminology. For these purposes, I use SDL Trados Studio 2015 and OmegaT translation softwares that considerably facilitate my work. I am able to provide translations of all MS Office and Open/LibreOffice text formats as well as PDF and JPG documents, including the scanned ones. I can also offer specialized services such as translations of HTML/XHTML formats, translation of your website directly in its administration, or creating and timing subtitles to your videos in the program Subtitle Workshop.
